High yield cassava growing techniques farmers need to know?

Growth characteristics of cassava (cassava)
Cassava is a tuber that contains a lot of starch, tastes like nuts. Thanks to its ability to withstand harsh growing conditions, cassava is grown a lot in our country. Cassava can be grown on forest land, exploited land, land rotated – intercropped with other crops such as legumes, rice, and wasteland. The land used to grow cassava needs to be loose, airy and not flooded in the rainy season. Therefore, people need to prepare the land carefully before planting.
Proper technical process for growing cassava
Preparing the land before planting
For land planted on rice-rotating fields, after the water recedes and the rice is harvested, it is necessary to prepare the land early for planting to take advantage of the soil moisture, handle weeds, and level the ground. Plow and harrow 1 to 2 times to dry the soil and level the water 1-2 months before planting. If the land is partially flooded, it is necessary to make ridges or create drainage ditches, plow or till the soil early, and pull ridges immediately after the water recedes. For land areas with a slope of over 30%, clear and burn the residues so that there is no need to dig a planting hole directly.
In the technique of growing high-yield cassava, it is important to supplement nutrients to the soil with suitable fertilizers. Apply basal fertilizer after 10 – 15 days: Duc Thanh Calcium Lime: 500kg/ha, spread evenly and plow and cover the soil again. Spread HI – TECH ORGANIC organic fertilizer (Organic, Trichoderma sp.; Pseudomonas sp.; micronutrients) 1.5 tons/ha + Superphosphate (500-800kg/ha/year, use as basal fertilizer and early top dressing). After plowing and harrowing for the second time and applying BEST – TRICHO (Trichoderma sp.; Streptomyces sp.; Bacillus sp.;), dosage: 2-3kg/ha.
HI – TECH ORGANIC microbial organic fertilizer
It is a biological organic fertilizer supplemented with many nutrients (organic matter, humic acid, effective phosphorus, moisture and pHH20…) including 3 types:
HI – TECH ORGANIC GOLD: To promote plant growth and is good for all types of plants, including cassava. The improved fertilizer increases soil fertility and porosity, helps the root system develop strongly, absorbs a lot of nutrients, helps the soil to be porous, airy, stabilizes soil pH, provides a concentrated amount of organic matter that has been activated by high technology…
HI – TECH ORGANIC SAPHIA: Helps to be immune to fungal diseases, balances nutrition, has many large roots. The fertilizer helps increase the density of beneficial microorganisms in the soil, forms soil glue, is rich in organic humus, loosens the soil, is airy, retains minerals, helps tubers and plants absorb nutrients fully… Suitable for many types of crops producing agricultural products for export. Dosage: 700 – 1,000 kg/ha/year. Used as basal fertilizer before planting or top dressing for crops.
HI – TECH ORGANIC RUBY: is an organic mineral fertilizer that provides organic matter to the soil, helping plants absorb quickly, mineral nitrogen, plants grow quickly and increase plant resistance. Helps restore growth after harvest season, improve soil. Use 700 – 1000 kg/ha/crop. Use as a periodic top dressing every year and during the recovery period after harvest.
BEST – TRICHO product
BEST – TRICHO product has extremely strong activity to stimulate root development, promote fertilizer absorption, help kill pathogenic fungi, protect crops. It is also used for composting organic fertilizers, reducing toxicity, improving soil, and reducing acidity. How to use leaves mixed with organic fertilizers as basal fertilizer or top dressing. Mix 30-40g/16 liters of water or 0.5-0.7kg/200l of water for root irrigation or foliar spraying.
Select varieties and season
Dong Nam Duc Thanh Company suggests farmers some high-yield cassava varieties commonly grown in Tay Ninh such as cassava variety KM94, variety KM419, variety KM101, variety KM98-5. There are 2 planting seasons:
Crop 1 is from April to May and harvested in January to March of the following year.
Crop 2 is from October to November, harvested in September to October of the following year.
For other types of soil, planting should be done in the rainy season from May to June. In the North of our country, there is only one season, early spring and harvested at the end of the year.
Of which, KM94 is the main variety of Tay Ninh province, less susceptible to broom disease, less susceptible to SCMV virus mosaic disease, moderately susceptible to tuber rot disease (10 – 15%) and is recommended for planting in areas with severe mosaic disease.

Processing cuttings (For cassava planting from trees)
Cuttings must be taken from good production fields, fields that have just been harvested from the previous crop and left for no more than 2 months after harvest. Cassava cuttings are taken from ⅓ of the middle section, 15-20cm long, with 4-6 eyes. Do not cut cuttings too short or too long, to avoid crushing the cuttings, use a sharp knife.
Preserving cuttings
There are many different ways to preserve them, such as bundling each bunch to stand the seedlings upright in the shade, or covering the cuttings with straw or dry grass. Do not take the young stem but take from the top down about 1/3 of the cassava stem, the length of the cassava cutting is 15-20cm, reaching from 4 to 6 eyes, do not cut the cutting too short or too long, avoid crushing the cutting. Use a sharp knife.
During the storage period, the seedlings may be affected by mealybugs or other harmful insects, so insecticides and fungicides can be used:
Pesticides: DT EMA 40EC (Emamectin benzoate), PPROCHESS 230WP (Di
